Taschenbuch. Condizione: Neu.

[.] 24 pp. Deutsch.

Taschenbuch. Condizione: Neu.

This item is printed on demand - it takes 3-4 days longer - Neuware -Essay from the year 2012 in the subject Didactics - Common Didactics, Educational Objectives, Methods, , language: English, abstract: The practice of giving feedback within the writing process has been the subject of many studies since the mid-1980s. The call for teachers to develop better feedback practices became apparent after studies showed that students have been generally less than satisfied with how teacher-student written feedback has been given. This chapter aims to identify how teachers may be able to offer feedback in a way that engages students, and presents them with clear messages that they will understand and appreciate. In order for this to be tangible in this context, the consideration and integration of alternative modes of learning through Information Communication Technologies (ICT) need to be realised. In particular, the use of Web 2.0 technology to assist in the writing process by giving students video feedback, instead of written feedback, on their draft papers. The primary epistemology of the proposed approach is consistent with students looking for improved methods of feedback they receive from teachers. This paper describes ongoing ICT-pedagogical practices for improving feedback given by teachers to students at high school level. The students aged fourteen-sixteen are members of a small Turkish high school population of around three hundred pupils. Based on my own classroom research, this paper focuses on feedback given on academic essays completed within the writing process, in order to discover how students respond to a different type of feedback than that to which they have been accustomed. I will also suggest that we, as ELT practitioners, find ways to move for a change to our feedback practices, and provide students with an alternative methodology that could lead to better student-engagement and focused writing practices within this context. 20 pp. Englisch.

A lot is being said on the actual causes of the Nigeria's socio-political and economic predicaments especially in the wake of the present century. This paper explores and analyses the roles of the so-called 'United Nation Development partners' (the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund and the World Trade Organization) in making Nigeria one of the poorest and corrupt countries on earth. The paper also sheds more light on how the activities of these institutions pushed Nigeria into the 'poverty-trap' which makes it difficult for the country to harness the vast human and material resources available for a common goal. 24 pp. Englisch.

Introduction'Normans, but bastard Normans, Norman bastards!' (Shakespeare, Arden 3.5.10) This exclamation of the Duke of Britain when he thinks of the English invader King Henry and his approaching army is a testimony of the cordial dislike of the French towards their English enemy. Within Henry V there are many more instances of the French being prejudiced against the English but also vice versa. However, the quotation above does not only contain a token of the French aversion against their opponent in the Hundred Years War - the setting of this history play by William Shakespeare - but also alludes to the fact that the two nations are somehow interwoven - a circumstance that will be dealt with later on.Within this paper on Shakespeare's Henry V, I will take a closer look at the ways in which the two nations describe themselves and are described by others, as well as at the textual evidence that sheds light on some of the national prejudices that the English and the French have against each other. Finally, I will search for those points in the play that indicate a sort of closeness between the two parties.Concerning the choice of words, it has to be mentioned that, for the sake of simplicity, the terms England and the corresponding adjective English shall be synonymous with the totality of England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland, the four peoples that are fighting together under King Henry against the French. 24 pp. Englisch.

This item is printed on demand - it takes 3-4 days longer - Neuware -Seminar paper from the year 2010 in the subject English Language and Literature Studies - Culture and Applied Geography, grade: 2,0, University of Heidelberg (Anglistisches Seminar), course: PS II 'The Post-War American Counter Culture', language: English, abstract: As soon as rap music had proven to be something more than a short lived youth phenomenon it began to be acknowledged as an American counter-culture - maybe because of the often controversial lyrics, maybe because of the socio-cultural background of the participants. This paper raises the question if American rap music can be seen as standing in the tradition of the Beat Generation, an artistic and ideological movement that is treated as the foundation of the term Counter Culture as it will be used in the further progress. The definition of this term is based on three texts: 'The Culture of Spontaneity' by Daniel Belgrad, 'The White Negroe' by Norman Mailer and 'The Philosophy of the Beat Generation' by Jack Kerouac. These works have in common that they are all concerned with the phenomenon of the American Counter-Culture in general and with the Beat Generation in particular - be it from Kerouac's personal point of view, from a contemporary one like Mailer's, or from the scholarly perspective of Belgrad. They each deal with different aspects of this movement and in this give a broad definition of it, including ideological as well as formal points. These individual notions are then used to construct a basis for a comparison. They are compared to respective aspects in rap music, with no special regard to decades, geographic focal points or stylistic tendencies. The rap culture is rather seen as an entity, the different artists as manifestations of its ideas. This means that the personal views and works of rap musicians are as important as their common denominator and are treated likewise. Yet there needs to be a distinction between those rap artists that create in accordance to the original ideas of Hip Hop and those who compromised on their musical integrity, whether due to the taste of the main stream or to artistic misleadings. The term 'Counter Culture' itself proves to be very helpful here, for it already implies that the followers of this movement oppose the 'Culture' of the mainstream and can therefore not be part of it, like the latter group of rap artists is.Finally, the aim of this paper is to trace the similarities of the two movements, but also to highlight the differences - the reasons why rap Music should not be considered as part of the American Counter-Culture, as a new Beat Generation. 20 pp. Englisch.

The three main areas concerning ICT: Web 2.0, E-commerce technologies and Mobile Applications, are discussed in detail to give the readers a broader view of the potential these technologies hold for organizations all around the world. The rapid development of agile and collaborative IT infrastructures has truly changed the way of communication across different entities. Not only this, intelligent systems are being used to gather information and knowledge that can be used for greater purposes. An example of this is web analytics, to gain market intelligence on any product or service sold in any part of the world. The Internet brings enterprises closer to their stakeholders by improving relationships. Reduced costs and increased productivity are also in the package of benefits that enterprises receive by adapting to the new environments of being, trading and communicating - online. So how do enterprises leverage the information to steer their ships to prosperity How are enterprises gaining larger market shares and reaching wider geographical areas to spread their existence Executives on the move are always reliant on their smart phones to stay in touch. All this, and more on the trends of technology have been looked at through this research. This paper boils down to a literature review of lots of work done by other researchers on the same topic and compares what they say about the effects of ICT on enterprises, negative or positive. This item is printed on demand - it takes 3-4 days longer - Neuware -Seminar paper from the year 2012 in the subject Pedagogy - Intercultural Pedagogy, grade: 1,0, Stralsund University of Applied Sciences, language: English, abstract: The word religion has its roots in the Latin words religio or religari, which stand for retrospective dependence and to aim at something very often. But nowadays the term religion is quite hard to grasp, as it is somehow always there but always in a different way, which is hard to explain. All in all it stands for the involvement with fundamentional questions of mankind, like 'Who am I ', 'Why do I live ', 'What should I do ' or 'How can my life succeed '.Christianity is the biggest religious movement in the world with more than 2.1 billion supporters, which is almost one third of the world s population. Christians live all over the world, but most of them in the southern hemisphere. Faith and above all, everyday life is different everywhere, dependent on denomination, but on the face of it, the common origin is obvious. The word Protestantism was originally not a self-designation of the evangelic Christianity, it came into being by the letter of protestation by Lutheran princes against the decision of the Diet of Speyer in 1529, which banned Martin Luther s 95 theses. The word itself has two main options of being understood: it could stand for entering an objection, coming from the Latin word protestari or for bearing witness, coming from pro testare. And so both of those meanings became main indicators for Protestantism. In England the term stood for all non-Catholic churches and was already often used during the 16th century, while in Germany it only won through after 1700. To say evangelic seemed to be more logical here as Martin Luther was concerned with the gospels (German: Evangelien). Today Protestantism is besides Catholicism and Orthodoxy one of the three basic forms of Christianity. This paper aims to describe and analyze typical customs, habits and symbols of the protestant religion as well as to give a short overview about what those are based on and where they come from. 20 pp. Englisch.

On the metaphorical potential of such groups, Kövecses noted thatSubcultures develop their own metaphors, and these metaphors may define the group. There is ofcourse no subculture that defines itself through an entirely new set of metaphors, but some of themetaphors members use may be new relative to the mainstream (Kövecses 2009: 286f).And this might be especially true for the subculture of Hip Hop with its most importantmanifestation being rap music. Despite the fact that the genre is in existence since the Seventies, linguistic studies in this field are still rare, and investigations into the metaphorical inventory of rapmusic literally not existent. A first and important step into that direction has been undertaken byScott Crossley, whose study shows the linguistic potential of rap music as well as its variety ofmetaphors:As a product of a historically oral culture that embodies familiar metaphorical traits [.], AfricanAmerican rap music is especially rich in metaphoric language. Its roots, along with other AfricanAmerican linguistic traditions (including signifying, the dozens, and narrativizing), give rap music itsexceptional linguistic variety (Crossley 2005: 503).The present term paper will continue Crossley's research on metaphorical conceptions in rap musicby illustrating further conceptual metaphors, but it also likes to develop it into a new direction byincluding German rap music as well. The relationship between American and German rap music isespecially interesting because it is coined by a linguistic impact that is by far not as strong on amore general level. Certain aspects of this impact have already been laid down in earlier papers1,and it will be most rewarding to explore its cognitive dimensions as well.In the analysis three metaphorical concepts will be examined. They are illustrated with thehelp of similar conceptions from everyday language and from an exemplary rap music corpus that ismore clearly defined in the next chapter. The methodical points of the analysis are laid down in thischapter as well. And since the metaphorical conceptions in rap music 'are generally specific to thesubculture that either adopts them from the dominant culture or creates them to address their owncultural needs' (Crossley 2005: 501), variations on an intra cultural level will be noted as well. 20 pp. Englisch.

It not only acts as the storage reservoir of amino acids, but also serves as the site for protein synthesis and protein breakdown [36]. The rate of protein synthesis needs to exceed protein degradation to achieve muscle hypertrophy [18, 24]. The timing of protein intake, type and quantity play a significant role in achieving optimal outcomes when applied to resistance exercise [36]. Research has been going on since the past decade demonstrating the role of nutritional supplements like whey protein, soy, branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs, especially leucine) and creatine on protein synthesis before, during and after a bout of resistance exercise through careful investigations into intracellular signalling pathways like the mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) and its downstream targets-ribosomal protein S6 (kinase-1) and 4E binding protein (4E-BP1) [7, 18]. Intracellular signalling, amongst other variables, involves three essential components-abundant ATP in muscle for providing energy, insulin signalling and leucine (figure 1) [36, 37]. mTOR, regarded as the 'key regulator' of translation comprises mTORC1 and mTORC2 [36]. mTORC1 plays a significant role in promoting muscular hypertrophy via phosphorylation of S6K1 and 4E-BP1 which prevent binding of the eukaryotic initiation factor (eIF) 4E to 4E-BP1 allowing a complex formation with eIF4G (eIF4E-eIF4G) thus enhancing protein synthesis [5, 34]. This report highlights how whey proteins and BCAA (leucine) affect muscle protein synthesis via intracellular signalling pathways thereby contributing significant effects on muscular hypertrophy. 20 pp. Englisch.

This item is printed on demand - it takes 3-4 days longer - Neuware -Scientific Essay from the year 2010 in the subject Philosophy - Miscellaneous, , language: English, abstract: The paper aims to provide a panentheistic perspective on the problem of evil and suffering. First the connection between the notion of God and good and evil is established. Further a definition of evil as 'something, which causes suffering' together with its implications is given. Subsequently the notion of moral evil and physical evil is provided, followed by the three classical views on evil, which are: (1) there is no evil; (2) God is responsible for evil; (3) humans are responsible for evil. Finally the panentheistic view on God is introduced, who is considered as a system (sys0) consisting of numerous dynamic subsystems (sys1-n). Consequently God is both impassible, being as sys0 in equilibrium, and empathic with all dynamic subsystems (sys1-n), where, due to His immanence, He is present. The concluding part shows the meaning of suffering in Christian doctrine of Redemption and Co-Redemption. 24 pp. Englisch.

Now an interim government controls the fate of Belgium until the next elections in March 2008. The future for the state seems to be very insecure: Flanders and Wallonia are the main actors in the traditional conflict known as 'battle of language'. But it is more than a struggle between French and Dutch - it is a combat concerning culture, economy and politics. Two parties are trying for decades to win the fight for force and influence and have now reached the climax. They are enjoying the splendid weather and carrying on a nice conversation with each other. By all means, this is absolutely not a fitting description of what is happening during the MAD TEA-PARTY, a chapter of 'Alice's Adventures in Wonderland'. Charles Lutwidge Dodgson is the author of both this book and 'Through the Looking-Glass - and what Alice found there', and is better known under the nom de plume Lewis Carroll. From now on, I am going to refer to him by this pseudonym. There are several points that make this particular tea-party so special. First and foremost, it has to be specified that the group of four gathered around the table are not all human beings. In fact, there is just Alice who fits into this category. The other three are Wonderland creatures: the Mad Hatter, the March Hare and the Dormouse. Having come to this realization, it is easier to understand why the latter are often behaving peculiarly by human standards. The fact that Lewis Carroll has come up with this fanciful, witty and ingenious chapter shows his great skills in making language an instrument that helps him not only to entertain and amuse, but also to cast doubt on what seems to be irrefutable and to make the reader ponder. Since, from the first time I read Carroll's successful novel, it was this particular chapter I liked most, I am very interested in learning more about it. First of all, I want to find out how the time in which Alice in Wonderland was written has influenced the story and its main character, Alice. As this little girl is not the only interesting character in the book, I am going to devote myself to the March Hare and the Mad Hatter afterwards. Not only do I want to take a closer look at their personalities, but I will also scrutinize their language when they are speaking to Alice. For this purpose, I want to refer to two of Paul Watzlawick's axioms. Last but not least, I am going to find out what is understood by the linguistic phenomenon of implicature and how this is connected with the MAD TEA-PARTY. 16 pp. Englisch.

I experience this for 10 years and I like to look back on this time. Therefore is the topic of this essay: How to become a virtuosic actor That contains on the one hand the question of how to become an expert in the area of acting in general and the other hand how to become an adaptive expert. I want to answer both.First of all will be a summary of the requirements given, which are linked with the satisfaction of the public expectation toward a capable actor in general, and the abilities, which are needed to fulfill the requirements. This way of explanation was chosen, because the point of views among the actors them self relative to what a capable actor is differs with a large degree under each other. Afterwards will be the differences between novices and experts stated. This is to explain, why experts-actors can fulfill the requirements and novices mostly not. In the following will be the differences between experts them self and the reasons for this fact explained, to illustrate why not every expert-actor is a virtuosic one. Building on this will be several conditions and techniques introduced, which are necessary or advisable for becoming an expert-actor in general, like motivation, and an adaptive expert-actor, like learning in several contexts. This essay will be concluded by summarizing the significant information, which will answer the given questions. The mostly facts stated will be illustrated with examples from the field of acting. It should be mentioned that all examples are lend from my own experience. Since the space is limited, this essay does not cover all important aspects of theme, but gives an overview of the issues that were crucial to me toward the field of acting in general. 24 pp. Englisch.

But for this an extensive education is necessarily. This fact underlines the importance of a well-functioning education system. A great amount of approaches all over the world toward this topic exits and this essays aim is to present the Saxon one.To achieve this, the essay will start with structure of the education system of Saxony. This contains, among other information, the learning-aims, achievable graduations and selectable profiles of elementary schools, secondary schools, academic high schools, and schools for gifted pupils as well as schools for pupils with special needs. In this context the function of the orientation classes will be also explained. Subsequently the administrative structure of the Saxon education systems will be presented. This includes important tasks of the Minister of educational and cultural affairs as well as his ministry, the 5 subordinate education authorities and the structure of 2 last mentioned. The tasks and qualification of headmasters will be particularly emphasised in order to underline their importance for the Saxon education system. Based on this the significant findings of the 'Programme for International Student Assessment' 2006 (PISA) as well as of the 'Bildungsmonitor' 2010 will be presented. This item is printed on demand - it takes 3-4 days longer - Neuware -Essay from the year 2011 in the subject Law - Miscellaneous, grade: 7.8, University of Leicester, language: English, abstract: Employment law is concerned with the relations between employers and their employees; the cornerstone of which is the contract of employment (Department of Criminology, 2011). The rights and responsibilities of employees derive from this contract of service and the various Acts of Parliament which lay down employment standards in addition to other rights and duties imposed by Common Law on the parties to the contract of employment, regarded as rights implied by Common Law. Considering that Parliament is an assembly of delegates of society, and that Common Law arise from decisions of Judges in courts and tribunals of society, a debate on whether a body of law concerned with the relationship between an employer and employee applies to society at large becomes pointless. This essay therefore focuses on the extent to which these laws provide mutual satisfaction for the employer, worker and society at large -providing for their aspirations, and addressing concerns in a manner that suits the composite parties' interests. A comprehensive assessment of what each of the parties represents, their subsequent aspirations and concerns is thus requisite for an assessment of how far employment laws go in striking equilibrium in interests amongst employers, workers and society at large.Lee (1996: 38) defines an employer as '.a legal entity that controls and directs a worker under an expressed or implied contract of employment and pays (or is obligated to pay) him/her salary or wages in compensation'. This definition focuses on the relationship between an employing entity and a natural being, and their rights and obligations as pertains to this relationship. He further describes an employee as a natural being who contributes labour and expertise to the endeavours of an employer, and is usually hired to perform specific duties packaged into a job. The definitional boundaries of 'employee' are often stretched to include or exclude a variety of arrangements for instance, there is a wide variation in opinion as to whether an agency worker can be considered an employee in an implied contract as ruled in Dacas v Brook Street Bureau (UK) Ltd , and overruled in James v London Borough of Greenwich . 16 pp. Englisch.

The two terms 'Rastafarianism' and 'Pan-Africanism' are widely unknown among Central Europeans and especially among native German speakers, and I had been no exception before I dealt extensively with this topic. Therefore, although this is a literary term paper, I will present historical, religious and sociological facts along with linguistic annotations as a basic background to my literary studies in order to inform the reader and give him a more or less detailed survey ON Rastafarian culture and society. I regard it as necessary to give short definitions of Rastafarianism and Pan-Africanism and their relations to one another in the beginning, for the simple reason that many readers will hardly ever have come across these two terms before, but I will keep them short, because everything will be discussed in detail further on, at the examples of literary texts. Although it is contestable, the reasons for this vary. First, democracy has gained acceptability as a form of government based on equity and justice. Secondly, it purports to uphold the rule of law, and as well, guarantee the preservation of human rights. As it is assumed that effective strategies adopted and properly implemented by a nation have the tendency to accelerate progress in the development of the said nation, this work examined some strategies for sustainable development in Nigeria. It highlighted existing strategies for development in the country, examined progress and challenges in implementing the strategies, and further identified measures which when adopted and implemented, will likely change the social, economic, and political condition of the country for economic growth and sustainable development. 40 pp. Englisch.

This item is printed on demand - it takes 3-4 days longer - Neuware -Scientific Essay from the year 2009 in the subject Philosophy - Miscellaneous, , course: The Venice School on Science and Religion 2009, zum Thema 'Evolution and Human Uniqueness' (26.05-30.05. 2009)., language: English, abstract: The human uniqueness consists, from the biological point of view, in a complexity of brain, which enables humans to transcend their biological belonging to the world of evolution. This cerebral complexity allows us to develop the consciousness of self which results both in the fear of death and in the sense of transcendence together with its cultic consequences, such as prayer and offering, every religion consists of. By adopting the monistic perspective according to which 'matter' and 'spirit' are considered as two aspects of reality, not as two independent and incompatible substances, any problem to accept that biological evolution culminates in encephalization and spiritualization (Teilhard) will be resolved. In order to prove this thesis some hard proves from neurosciences and evolution will be adduced. Due to the recent brain research some neuronal correlates of different religious experiences can be detected. All these experiences involve brain areas (lateral prefrontal region, Brodmann's areas 39 and 40 in the inferior parietal lobe in cooperation the cortico-striato-pallido-thalamocortical system) unique to the species homo sapiens. It seems that only humans are cerebral capable of transcendence, since God, guiding the evolution, wanted them to be 'religious animals.' 32 pp. Englisch.

Taschenbuch. Condizione: Neu. This item is printed on demand - it takes 3-4 days longer - Neuware -Scientific Essay from the year 2012 in the subject Literature - Africa, University of Nigeria, language: English, abstract: Theories of language, linguistic and non linguistic communication are diverse. In the Humanities there are so many interpretative tools. These tools are means to an end and not the end in themselves. Just as we have equations in the natural sciences so do we have theoretical frameworks, literary criticisms and approaches to literature and the communication arts in the Humanities. These interpretative tools are keys to opening and analyzing works in the Humanities and other disciplines. Most of these theories are borrowed from other disciplines other than the ones exploiting them. In the literary sciences, rooms are given for inter-textual interpretations as well as for interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches. Hence one could analyze a given fiction, drama or poem using one or more approaches as the case may be. At the primary and secondary school level, essays are simply written and novels are simply read and interpreted by simple minds. But at the tertiary educational level, one would expect the reader, the critic or the recipient to be thorough, analytical and scientific in his appraisal of the text before him. In receptions-theory the analytical mind is not left empty handed in this art of researching on or beyond the text .For one to access these tools effectively one must be equipped with literary terms. Interpretative tools are legion. Some are text-centered and linguistic and others are extra-textual and non linguistic. Hermeneutics and the sister theoretical frameworks like the positivism, formalism, explication de texte, New Criticism, Structuralism, post-structuralism, Semiotics, de-construction etc are text-centered interpretative tools while the society based theories like Marxist-socialism, psycho-analytic theory, feminism, receptions-theory, racial theory, cultural and intercultural studies, Literature and the media, literature and history, literature and biography etc fall under the beyond textual interpretative approaches. Our interest in this exercise is on the raw textual analytic approach. Many students usually prefer the easier approaches which are mostly society based and abhor the dry and puritanist approaches. This paper is aimed at introducing the audience to the rigors of scientific approaches to the study of texts, images and languages. 36 pp. Englisch.
