Hard Back. Condizione: Very Good. Condizione sovraccoperta: No Dust Jacket. First Edition. 208 Pages. This is a hard back novel with black laminated boards signed by the author on the title page with four inked-lines of gift inscription. No other marks noted and interior text pages are near flawless. A serial killer stalks the city, methodically choosing his victims based on the symbolism of their names. To mark his success, the murderer then places his calling card on each new body. First the Ten of Spades, next the Jack of Spades, followed by the Queen. As Homicide Lieutenant Amato works to identify the killer, it becomes apparent he is to be the crowning Ace of Spades in this deadly game of cards. In his first novel, author Lou Campanozzi takes the reader on a ride through the streets of Rochester, New York, the very streets he patrolled as a cop and the alleys where, as a homicide detective, he pursued killers. From the opening chapter, The Killing Cards tells the story of a killer who not only enjoys killing, but also thrives on the thrill of being pursued. When he feels his motives are being misjudged, the suspect stages a murder for the media and lets it be known that Mike Amato is his ultimate prey. Lt. Amato and his teams of detectives chase lead after lead on a journey to dead end after dead end. The killings are first thought to be mob-related, but after the second killing, the clues lead the detectives right into the halls of the Public Safety Building. After the third victim falls, the trail of evidence brings Lt. Amato to the doors of the Chief of Police. The Killing Cards not only treats the reader to a rare look inside the cubicles of a homicide squad, it gives you a peek inside the heads and psyches of the detectives, to the recesses of their minds where fear and self-doubt live.
