They impair bone mineralization and can also alter bone mineral density (BMD). Low BMD is a risk factor for osteoporosis and bone fracture, not only in later years, but also in childhood and adolescence. In our study we compared BMD, bone age and vitamin D levels within different groups of children. We also measured body composition and evaluated usefulness of bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) in predicting low BMD. Serologic markers EMA and t-TG were measured to determine the compliance with gluten-free diet. The results of the study show significant decrease in serum vitamin D levels in patients with celiac disease and IBD compared to the control group. Body composition, measured with BIA did not correlate with BMD so we cannot confirm the value of this method in diagnosis of low BMD. However, the correlation between BMD and t-TG values in celiac patients was confirmed. Air samples were collected from two car brands, both produced in Poland, which differed in interior equipment. Active method and two solid sorbents, thermal desorption and gas chromatography were applied to analyse VOCs in vehicle interior. The differences in air composition between different examples of the same vehicle model with the same equipment were checked as well as differences between different vehicle models. In each vehicle about 200 different organic compounds were found. They presence was connected with the cabin interior equipment and materials off-gassing. These compounds were present in a form of complex mixture, which made the determination of the exact air composition in the vehicle interior a scientific challenge. Taschenbuch. Condizione: Neu. Neuware -A series of experiments were conducted on the preservation of fresh peaches using freezing and heat (hot-filled packaging). In the first experiment, the effects of four calcium salts (calcium chloride, calcium lactate, calcium citrate, calcium phosphate) on the texture of processed peach slices were determined. Peach slices were immersed in solutions containing dissolved calcium salts at levels of 0.5, 1 and 2 % for 1 minute then stored at 4 °C for 3 days. Treatments with calcium salts were firmer than non calcium treated peach slices at all levels. Calcium lactate at 2 % level was best in terms of texture and overall appearance. In a second experiment set, effects of calcium salts at 3 % level was also determined for three different varieties of peaches (Autumn prince, Big Red, O¿Henry) with a dipping time of 5 minutes. Increase in the level of calcium salts to 3 % did not generally improve the texture of peach slices. The effect of calcium salt combined with antibrowning agents on shelf life of peach slices was also studied.
