Hardcover. Condizione: Very Good. Condizione sovraccoperta: Very Good Dust Jacket. Cover has some light edge and corner wear.; The interviews in this volume tell the stories of remarkable men and women who have made careers out of researching, writing, and teaching about the past. Friends and colleagues conducted these conversations over a decade, and all were subsequently published in the Mormon Historical Studies journal of Religious Educator periodical. Now they are brought together as a single book of personal essays. As we review and reflect on the personal lives and remarkable careers featured in this volume, we sense that many of these historians feel they were prepared or given a definite sense of mission and professional calling that stretches well back in time.; 6.25" x 9.25"; 576 pages.

Working at the University of Utah, he labored to reconcile the secular world with the spiritual world of his youth. In 1912 he helped establish the first Latter-day Saint seminary at Granite High School. As Church commissioner of education, he helped establish the institutes of religion, with a mission to allow college students to reconcile the secular truths learned in university settings with the truths of the gospel. He created the Religion Department at Brigham Young University and encouraged young scholars to produce professional studies of the Latter-day Saint religion. In 1933 Merrill was called as an Apostle, and in that role he continued his work to modernize the Church. In the final years of his life, Merrill continued to work to show that science and religion could be reconciled.; 9.3 X 6.4 X 1.0 inches; 340 pages.

Hardcover. Condizione: New. Condizione sovraccoperta: New Dust Jacket. Brand new hardcover book! ; How did the young newlywed couple experience the Mormon Pioneer Trek West? Read the first combined husband-and-wife account of the pioneer trek in Journey West. The six unpublished journals rank among the great Mormon exodus journals. They were written by Horace K. Whitney, son of Newel K. and Elizabeth Whitney, with reminiscences and insights from Helen Mar Kimball, daughter of Heber C. and Vilate Kimball. One of Helen's greatest contributions was to share a woman's perspective and complement her husband's perspectives in so many faith-building ways. The book has been richly illustrated and annotated and includes a glossary of people to provide historical context. This is a remarkable story, with few parallels in the history of the Church. It's a story of triumph over trials. ; 10.20 X 7.20 X 1 inches; 480 pages.

Extensive annotation elucidates the text and offers helpful background.
