Prima edizione
First Edition. An exceptional copy; fine in an equally fine dw, now mylar-sleeved. Particularly and surprisingly well-preserved; tight, bright, clean and especially sharp-cornered. Literally as new.; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 198 pages; Physical description: 198, [1] p. : chiefly ill. (some col. ) ; 28 cm. Catalog of an exhibition held at High Museum of Art, Atlanta, Georgia, June 5, 2010-Jan. 9, 2011. Peter Sekaer (1901-50) emerged as an artist in the company of Ben Shahn, Berenice Abbott, and Walker Evans. This book intends to show how he stepped from their benign shadows to build his own distinctive style. It is the first monograph to show the full range of his accomplishments. Sekaer's early work combines dispassionate images with others that show his concern and intuitive grasp of the human condition. Many of his most memorable photographs were made while fulfilling mundane assignments for various government agencies. Sekaer had none of the reformer's passion found in the works of Jacob Riis or Lewis Hine. His stance was more that of the artist/anthropologist, who delighted in recording the artifacts and gestures that defined American society in the 1930s. Subjects: Sekaer, Peter, 1901-1950 - Exhibitions. Photography, Artistic - Exhibitions. Documentary photography - United States - Exhibitions. 2 Kg.

Hardcover. Condizione: Very Good. Condizione sovraccoperta: Very Good. Harry Callahan (Photographer) (illustratore). 1st Edition. First edition (2007.) Hardcover with dust jacket. Folio with 160 pages. Signed on the title page, "Eleanor Callahan." The book and dust jacket are in very good condition. Interior is clean and tight. Profusely illustrated. Pictures available upon request. "Harry Callahan's wife, Eleanor, was his most regular subject. She stares out of his acclaimed work,.sometimes Classical and sometimes Modern, in public parks and city streets, at the beach, in a tent, in the studio and their home, nude and clothed, eventually pregnant and then mothering.this makes up an intimate visual diary of their relationship and of Callahan's artistic exploration: these are seldom portraits in the traditional sense. More than studies of Eleanor, they are stages in Callahan's lifelong exploration of photography.Really beautiful and haunting images." White spine/Gray text. #033640 Size: Folio. Signed. Individual Photographer.
