In 1968, Bruce released his first book, The Short Happy Walks of Max MacPherson, a collection of his columns that had been published under the pseudonym Max MacPherson. It was republished by Totem Books in 1976. Bruce moved to Halifax, Nova Scotia in 1971. This book was found and read by us (its current owners) in Halifax.
