Libro Prima edizione
Soft cover. Condizione: Very Good. 1st Edition. Boulder: Colorado Associated University Press, 1977. (8 3/4 x 10 1/2 in., 22.2 x 26.6 cm). 122pp. First edition. Contains 92 plates of photographs dating 1973-74. Photographically illustrated softcover (spine toned and with a light crack at center, a handling crease [just left of the cover illustration] extends through the text block and is relatively unobtrusive within the gutter margins, back cover with a couple of gently bending creases affecting the last few pages, minor wear to some tips, extremely minor surface rubbing affecting gloss; a very good copy). Please note: light reflections are visible in the 2nd image (at bottom of glossy back cover). "Adams had originally intended to call this book 'Places to Stand' (a variant on a line of the poem that serves as the epigraph) but changed it to 'denver', a title he felt would have broader appeal. He began the project under the auspices of the State Historical Society of Colorado, which helped him gain access to the factory interiors that contribute to distinguishing this volume's subject from that of 'The New West'. While 'denver' maintains the segmented organization of Adams's earliest publications, the book was the first in which his pictures appeared independent of explanatory captions (a few captions can be found in the back of the book)." (Chuang, 'Books by Robert Adams' in 'The Place We Live volume III', np.) A reasonably well preserved softcover copy of this, the first edition.
