Soft cover. Condizione: Near Fine. George Sheridan Knowles (illustratore). 1st Edition. Milwaukee: Die Hausfrau, 1932. The Dexember (December), 1932 issue of Die Hausfrau, "Monatsschrift fur die Frauenwelt Amerikas" (roughly, Monthly Review for the American Woman"). Text in German. Tall quarto, almost folio, illustrated stapled wraps, 58 pp. Cover is a holiday watercolor of a group of "Silent Night" carolers, equipped with musical instruments of an apparently regional type. See scan. Almost Near Fine; modest amount of the inevitable age-toning to the cover and supple interior; a touch of roughening at the top right of cover and some pages; and a subscriber's address, lower right. See scans. A nice, high grade example. Published for German-Americans in the mid-20th century, but you don't have to be able to read German to appreciate the covers, the removable interior color plates in some issues (here, as a flawless removable calendar for the upcoming year of 1933 - see scan), the craft pages, short fiction & poetry (sometimes illustrated), the frequent geographically whimsical articles, and the excruciatingly home-y black and white photos in Die Hausfrau. This will take ya back. Well, depending on how old you are.Americana, in German. Collector's condition. Please see all scans. Lpr4.
