Ice bucket: 5.5 x 6.75" (not including handles), decorative bands top and bottom, stamped on bottom "Reed and Barton silver soldered 5715-S 72 OZ", no lid, scratches, pitting, interior is heavily pitted and abraded else good to very good condition. Doorknob: 7" long, knobs 2.25" and one is stamped with the Statler crest, well worn and rubbed else good. Menus: "Hotel Statler" 6.5 x 9", turquoise and cream, "Club Dinner" 8 x 5", black lettering on a cream background, Statler crest, dated 9-4-1933 (only dated item), both menus have some soiling and spotting else good. Flatware: 1 demitasse, 2 teaspoons, one tablespoon, one pickle fork, all have the Statler crest except one teaspoon which has the Statler "S". Size ranges from 4.5" to 7.1", all Reed and Barton, tablespoon is stamped "silver applied", one teaspoon stamped "SF", all are stamped on the reverse "Hotels Statler", scratches, rubbing, teaspoon with the "S" is pitted, lettering rubbed and well worn, overall condition of flatware is good to very good. The Hotel Statler opened in January 1915 on the site of former Governor Bagley's house. In 1954 it was sold to the Hilton Hotel chain and was known as the Statler Hilton. One of its most famous guests was Harry Houdini who stayed there in October 1926, on October 24th he suffered an injury during a performance and died from peritonitis on October 31st in Detroit's Grace Hospital. A total of nine items, sold as a lot only.
