Presentazione e traduzione di Simona Magherini. Ottime condizioni. Hapworth 16, 1924 è uscito come racconto sul New Yorker il 19 giugno 1965 e mai più ristampato per volontà di Salinger. Nel 1988 il titolare della casa editrice Orchises Press, Roger Lathbury, scrive a Salinger proponendogli la pubblicazione e per qualche tempo la trattativa sembra filare liscia. La risposta di Salinger arriva dopo soli 8 . anni! Siamo nel 1996, ma è un sì. Lathbury è un uomo fortunato, diventerà il futuro editore del più importante scrittore americano vivente. Ma l'editore commette una ingenuità: si lascia scappare la notizia e Salinger blocca tutto. Brutalmente. Nel 1997 una studentessa italiana, Simona Magherini, decide che la sua tesi di laurea sarà la traduzione, in italiano, di quelle 30mila parole. Nel frattempo si fa avanti una giornalista , Maria Grazia Rosa Rosso propone alla Casa editrice Eldonejo la stampa del volume che uscirà qualche mese di anticipo rispetto all'edizione americana. Un piccolo problema, i diritti sulle opere di Salinger appartengono alla Einaudi che fa causa alla Casa editrice Eldonejo. Le 2000 copie vengono ritirate dal mercato, molte distrutte altre rientrano sul mercato a prezzi esorbitanti.
