Hardcover. Condizione: Very Good. Condizione sovraccoperta: Near Fine. 1st Edition. This is a set of the first three US books in the Harry Potter series, all inscribed 'To Michael' by J.K. Rowling on October 20th, 2000, in New York City. Ten Scholastic essay contest winners were invited to have lunch with Rowling, one of which was Michael Salka who these books are inscribed to. This very brief visit to New York was Rowling's only meeting with Harry Potter fans in the United States in 2000. These books were sold by Michael himself to Adam Houston in 2022 who has since sold them to myself. Four photographs from the event are included, two photos show all 10 essay winners including Michael along with J.K. Rowling and another shows Michael's mum reading to him with these exact three books at the foot of the bed. Michael's mum passed away in 2022 which led him to sell the books. An amazing set, with a lovely story and fantastic provenance. The Sorcerer's Stone is a paperback 21st printing with an inscription that reads 'To Michael, congratulations, J.K. Rowling.' The Chamber of Secrets is a hardcover 22nd printing with an inscription that reads 'To Michael, a good writer himself! J.K. Rowling.' The Prisoner of Azkaban is a hardcover 7th printing with an inscription that reads 'To Michael, don't let those photographers get you down! J.K. Rowling.' All books are in very good condition. Internally all three of the books are exceptionally clean, they have lovely crisp white pages with no marks, ownership inscriptions or writing of any kind. The first book, the paperback appears unread, with an incredibly tight and square binding. there is some minor damage to the base of the spine approx 1.5cm closed tear of the front cover and the first page. The second and third books are in very similar condition to each other, they both have a slight spine lean, pushed spine tips and base, some minor marks to the boards and some minor shelf wear but overall in very good condition. The dust jackets are both in near fine condition with no colour fading at all and just a minor touch of shelf wear. All three inscriptions come fully authenticated by Adam Houston 'theharrypotterspecialist' the world's leading expert in authenticating Jo's signature. This set comes with a full authentication package including a letter of authenticity and collector card for each book along with four photographs from the event where the books were signed. Condizione: Fine in a fine jacket. GrandPré, Mary (illustratore). Later printing. Signed early printing of the US edition of the first book in the Harry Potter series, with the slightly altered title (from "Philosopher's" to "Sorcercer's") and the vivid illustrations by Mary GrandPré. The Harry Potter series, about a boy who goes to a wizard school, has been the biggest literary phenomenon of our lifetime. The books remain formative for millions, including the many readers who reject Rowling's agitations against trans rights. This copy from the personal collection of Mary and Robert Brown, longtime owners of Books, Bytes, and Beyond bookstore in Glen Rock, NJ, who hosted Rowling for an event in October 1999, where this book was signed. Due to the strength of the forgery market, Rowling signatures are justifiably suspect. Authentically signed copies with clear provenance, like this one, are therefore more desirable. An excellent example of her early signature. 9'' x 6''. Original quarter red cloth, purple paper boards, gilt-lettered spine (no "Year 1"). In original unclipped ($17.95) color pictorial dust jacket with art by GrandPré. Dark green endpapers. Illustrated throughout in black and white by Grandpré. 21st printing. viii, 309, [1], [2] pages. Signed by Rowling in black ink on title page. Overall clean, bright, sharp, and tight.

Hardcover. Condizione: Near Fine. Condizione sovraccoperta: Near Fine. 1st Edition. First American edition, second printing of "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" (the USA-adapted title of "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone"), signed in October 1998 by J.K. Rowling on the verso of the half-title page. The book was signed during Rowling's first American visit, during which she met only around 100-200 people. This situation would change drastically the following year for her second American tour, after the Harry Potter hype had taken off. Signed American editions with a 1998 signature are therefore extremely rare. Accompanied by a Letter of Authenticity (LoA) from Adam Houston (TheHarryPotterSpecialist), the world's sole J.K. Rowling signature expert and an informative collector's card that provides additional details. The book is in near fine, unread condition with bumped spine ends, minor scratches on some page edges, and, inconspicuously due to the use of a black pen on a green background, the previous owner's name on the first free endpaper. The first-state dust jacket, featuring a review from The Guardian on the rear panel, is also in near fine condition. The jacket is slightly wrinkled at the spine ends but without fading or noticeable wear. A highly collectible early signed Harry Potter book. Signed by Author(s).

First edition of the collector's edition of the first book in Rowling's Harry Potter Series. Octavo, original publisher's full leather decorated in gilt with pictorial onlay to the front panel, all edges gilt, patterned endpapers, illustrated by Mary Grandpre. Boldly signed by J.K. Rowling on the title page. Fine in the original glassine which is in fine condition. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone is the first novel in the Harry Potter series and J. K. Rowling's debut novel, first published in 1997 by Bloomsbury. The writing has been compared to that of Jane Austen, one of Rowling's favourite authors, or Roald Dahl, whose works dominated children's stories before the appearance of Harry Potter, and of the Ancient Greek story-teller Homer. It has been translated into several languages and has been made into a feature-length film of the same name.
