Bert Holldobler and Wilson won a Pulitzer Prize in general nonfiction for their earlier treatise/textbook The Ants (1990), and here, four years later, they popularize this success for a lay audience with a more approachable mix of "autobiography with scientific lore" to create "a window on the world of ants and those who study them" that widens to a view of natural history at large. A wide octavo or small quarto in green cloth, rich with color photographs and illustration. A fine book in fine jacket.
