A very good hardcover copy, annotated throughout, but with an interesting provenance. The book initially belonged to Earle L. Ovington, best-known as the first US airmail pilot, but he also worked with Thomas Edison and did some inventing on his own. This book is signed and dated on his 27th birthday by Ovington, who notes the purchase of a microscope and then the acquisition of a second microscope. Most of the notes in the text appear to be his. Two pages of handwritten notes in his hand are laid in, including one sheet written on Ovington Aero Company letterhead. A second inscription is from Dr. Frederick Finch Strong, author of the book High-Frequency Currents, who notes that Ovington willed the book to him when he died in 1936 and that he had studied under the author in the 1890s. An interesting provenance. Ovington's signature, much sought-after for his connection to postal history, is uncommon.
