Bound in green cloth (multiple colors were used) this item shows light wear to board at all corners and spine ends. Impressed pebbled cloth shows light soiling and gilt lettering on spine is very legible. Internals show acid toning and signature paper is obviously of different quality. Hardcover. Condizione: Fair. 1st English language edition. Hard cover copy bound in brown publisher's cloth with brown paste downs and free end papers. The front and rear covers have has blind stamped designs and the spine has gold gilt lettering and design. The gilt is very faded and hard to see, but it is legible. The covers are worn and scuffed, particularly the edges and corners. The spine is a bit cocked. The pages have some foxing and staining, including what appears to be a triangular water stain (about 1" by 1/2") on the upper inside corners of the first 35 pages. Despite the stated flaws, this is a solid copy of the first English language edition of Les Miserables' "Marius" ; The page opposite the title page is an advertisement for "Les Miserables" showing the five volumes of the story - "Marius" is volume III. Double columned text with a table of contents for the eight books of "Marius." After the story, there're two pages of ads for Carleton's latest releases. ; no illustrations; Small 4to 9 1/4" by 6"; 150 + [2] pages.

Hardcover. Condizione: Fair+. Tall octavo, printed in two columns. "Complete in one volume," per the title page, though the pagination restarts in each of the five parts. Seems to be the second printing thus, with the first American one-volume edition having been printed in 1863. In fair to good condition at best, with significant wear to the spine ends, joints, and corners. A few scattered marginal pencil markings, and a tiny ink marking to the title page, else clean. OCLC results are hopelessly muddled, though it seems that few of the numerous holdings are actual physical copies of the book, and the majority are digital-only. Well-worn, but a sound copy of this uncommon edition.
