A tight, firm volume in Acceptable condition - due to a small brown stain - in scarlet/burgundy/bright shiny silver gilt-lettered hard boards, 8 1/4" x 5 3/4" x 249 unmarked, very lightly read pages of excellent humorous fiction from a master and a member of a wonderful writing family. The author is the son of Robert Benchley, the lead member of the Algonquin Round Table. His son is Peter Benchley, author of the Jaws trilogy. Brilliant authors all. Here a small New England town has monuments to each war death from the history of the town - then it's found that 'good old Bubba Price', who was killed in Korea, has no monument. A campaign is started to build the monument, but it becomes a political fight between two political fools. A tight, firm volume with little wear. However - please note - the dust jacket is priceclipped, as are the two free front endpages. There is a brown darkening to an inch, or less, of the back 1/3 of the text block, just to the margins - does not affect the text. No looseness, No mustiness, No smoke smell. No names. No other markings. NOT Ex-library. NOT Remainder-marked. A marvelous find.
