About the book:-The Pahlavi texts selected for translation in this volume are distinguished from all others by the peculiarity that both the name and station of their author and the time in which he lived are distinctly recorded. His name, Manuskihar, son of Yudan-Yim (or Gusndam), is mentioned in each of the headings and colophons to the Dadistan-i Dinik and the three Epistles attributed to him. The manuscripts containing the writings manuskihar are of two classes one represented in Europe by the codex No. 35 of the collection of Avesta and Pahlavi manuscripts in the university library at Kopenhagen the other represented by No.14 of the Haug collection of similar manuscripts are called K35 and M14, respectively in this volume. About the Author:-Friedrich Max Müller (1823 1900) was a German-born philologist and Orientalist, who lived and studied in Britain for most of his life. He was one of the founders of the western academic disciplines of Indian studies and religious studies ('science of religion', German: Religionswissenschaft). Müller wrote both scholarly and popular works on the subject of Indology. The Sacred Books of the East, a 50-volume set of English translations, was prepared under his direction. Edward William West (1824-1905), usually styled E. W. West, was a scholarly English engineer, orientalist, and translator of Zoroastrian texts. He was educated at King's College London. He prepared five volumes of Pahlavi texts (the Marvels of Zoroastrianism) for Prof. Max Müller's monumental Sacred Books of the East series, published from the years 1880 to 1897.
