Hardcover. Condizione: Very Good. Condizione sovraccoperta: Good. 1976. SIGNED HARDCOVER, 5th Printing. --'POLISH JEWS - A PICTORIAL RECORD'-- by photographer ROMAN VISHNIAC. With (31) b&w photographs of Eastern European Jews in the 1930s. Vishniac was hired by the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee to photograph Jewish life throughout Eastern Europe, before this epoch of Jewish existence with its intense religious quality ended (in the crematories of Nazi Germany). Vishniac wrote: "these pictures were made without letting the subjects know of the presence of a camera. They represent real life completely unposed. And so today they have become documents of a lost epoch of a lost people." Dust jacket has a small chip at the top, lightly mottled on the rear. Overall very nice and presents very well.
