Hardcover. Condizione: Poor. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Red cloth binding with black lettering on the cover and spine. Unfortunately, the cover has suffered some exposure to moisture. The front cover is slightly more than half faded to pink or even nearly to white, from the outer edge in. The rear cover is splotchy pink and faded red. The covers have protected the book from the moisture damage, though - Apart from a half inch pink border to attached endpapers (transferred from the bookcloth) and (less so) on the free endpapers), the text block is clean. Binding still tight. Pages toned, evenly, from age. A novel about George Washington's slaves written by a Virginian. Scarce in any condition. First (and only) Edition. Please email with questions or to request photos.

Hardcover. Condizione: Very Good. Condizione sovraccoperta: Very Good. 1st Edition. FIRST EDITION, A FINE ASOCIATION COPY HAVING THE OWNERSHIP SIGNATURE OF AFRICAN AMERICAN ARTIST ILLUSTRATOR, LOIS MAILLOU JONES on the front paste-down. A Scarce book with the original dust jacket by African American artist James Lesesnes Wells. A novel about George Washington's slaves. There is some offset from the red cloth binding to the inside of the pictorial dust jacket and some signs of water staining to the spine. The dj is all there. I have seen at least 10 copies of this title and they all have some signs like this, possibly due to a problem at Associated's warehouse.
