Galf calf over marbled boards, G+. viii+85pp+4pp publishers adverts, hinges cracked but holding, leather rather rubbed along the edges, Armorial bookplate of Alexander Gordon of Auchlunies to the pastedown, pp85 mis numbered pp83. a fair copy. A later reprint of the 1810 third edition. The paper carries several watermarks, namely ; a fleur de lis 'J & M' ( dated 1817 ), W Turner & Sons, & J Green ( dated 1815 ). A satirical poem written by Lord Byron which was first published, anonymously, in March 1809. Byron wrote the work in response to the scathing criticism of his first book of poetry, Hours of Idleness, by Henry Brougham. Alexander Gordon [ 1781 - 1873 ] British officer during the Napoleonic Wars. He was commissioned a captain in the 15th Hussars and he fought in the Peninsular War. His correspondence during the Corunna Campaign was collated & published in 1913. 225 grams.
