Dieser vierte Band (tomo quatro) von 4 Bänden enthält: Libro XXXI - teoria delle Leggi Feudali presso i Franchi nel rapporto, che hanno con le rivoluzioni della loro Monarchia. (Seite 1 - 7(), Difesa dello spirito delle leggi. Alla quale sonosi aggiunte alcune dilugidazioni. (parte prima, seconda, terza.). (Seite 79 - 148). Indice. (Seite 149 - 366). Text nur in Italienisch. Zustand: Einfacher grauer Pappband, mit rotem Titelrückenschild. Einband am unterer Rücken schwarz verfärbt (ehemaliger Aufkleber), Einbanddeckel leicht lichtrandig, Einbandkanten minimal berieben, alter Namensaufkleber auf dem Innendeckel. Size: 8°.

IL PREZZO SI RIFERISCE AI 4 VOLUMI INSIEME (opera completa). Il presente set è composto dai volumi I, II e IV di una edizione e del III di un'altra. LE DUE EDIZIONI SONO ENTRAMBI DI TERRES DI NAPOLI, presentano lo stesso frontespizio e presumibilmente sono edite a poca distanza l'una dall'altra come conferma ICCU che le data entrambe 1777 ca. Ritratto del Genovesi e ritratto del Montesquieu al primo v. incisi da Giampiccoli. Edizione originale del commento del Genovesi, stampata da Terres a otto anni dalla morte dell'autore. Una traduzione dello Spirito delle leggi era uscita parzialmente ad opera di Mecatti nel 1750, ma l'operazione era stata interrotta dalla censura. Terres, che possedeva il manoscritto del Genovesi, nel 1777 riuscì ad ottenere il permesso di stampa dell'opera commentata, con l'aggiunta di operette ad essa relative quali l'elogio di D'Alembert ad opera di Montesquieu, la Difesa dello Spirito delle leggi di J. Fontane de la Roche, il Ringraziamento sincero attribuito a Voltaire etc. Catalogo Einaudi 3997. Formato: 4 v. (xvi, 364 p., [2] c. di tav.; xv, 319 p.; xxxii, 415, [1] p.; 366 p.), 19 cm, m.p. coeva con titoli in oro al dorso e piatti marmorizzati tranne il terzo volume che è in piena pergamena e misura 20 cm.

Napoli, Domenico Terres, [1777], volumi 4, in-8, legatura coeva in mezza pergamena per i primi tre volumi (consunzioni alla carte decorata dei piatti lungo i margini, in due volumi manca il tassello in pelle al dorso con il titolo in oro), legatura coeva in mezza pelle per il quarto volume, pp. XVI, 260 - XVI, 319, [1] - XIV [i.e. XVI], 310, [2], l'ultima carta bianca - 366, [2], l'ultima carta bianca. Con marca calcografica con note tipografiche sui frontespizi. La data di stampa è desunta dalla prefazione. Mancano due ritratti incisi in rame f.t. al primo volume. Asportato un angolo inf. esterno d'una carta (margine bianco) nel primo volume. Di quest'opera, che è la prima edizione della traduzione del Romagnosi, esistono almeno tre varianti descritte in ICCU: questa è quella con codice identificativo IT\ICCU\UBOE\128960. Un'altra (IT\ICCU\RMGE\000531) differisce da questa solo per alcuni errori di paginazione (ad esempio l'ultima pagina del primo volume, che pur conta 360 pagine, è numerata 364), ma mantiene la stessa composizione a stampa. Una terza variante (IT\ICCU\TO0E\006765) è caratterizzata invece da una diversa composizione, con fascicolazione, numero di pagine e impronta differenti nei vari volumi (è in questa che appare in fine al primo un colophon).

Una traduzione antecedente ad opera di Macatti (Napoli 1750) rimase interrotta dalla censura [cfr. Einaudi 3996]. Deliziosa pubblicazione nata da un prezioso manoscritto «in carattere corsivo» del defunto Genovesi, conservato dallo stampatore nel suo studio privato [p. V]. Sulle operette tradotte in fine cfr.
