Vol 2 spine repaired with book tape from inside. -- Moderate wear to portfolios, joints starting, toning to boards, abrasions to rear boards of Volume II; very light toning around plate edges, otherwise plates almost like new.occasional spots in margins; very good. - Gustave Jequier was an Egyptologist and one of the first archaeologists to excavate ancient Persian cities in what is now Iran. He was a member of Jacques de Morgan's 1901 Susa expedition, which led to the discovery of the famous Code of Hammurabi, now on display in the Louvre. Folios (20x14") with loose plates.

Illustrated text pages. The extraordinary b/w photographs, rendered in photogravure, are by V. De Mestral-Combremont in all three portfolios. Text in French. Volume 1: Portfolio with wear along edges, spine partially split at front joint top and bottom, and lower string-ties missing. Some scuffing of front cover with partial loss of black lettering at bottom. Volume 2: Some wear along edges of portfolio similar to volume one at spine, scuffing with loss of small part of illustration and some lettering. Vol. 3: Front and back boards of portfolio separated with spine attached to front cover. Some light smudging to covers, back cover with some staining. Bottom string-ties missing. Plates in overall very good condition.
