Alain Bordier assembled (mostly with the help of Ulrich von Schroeder) a comprehensive, museum quality collection of about 600 objects and founded his private Tibet Museum at Gruyères, where he converted an old chapel to a museum of religious art from the Himalayas - an impressive atmosphere. 18 masterpieces are illustrated in this book, including works by the 10th Karmapa in his unique style. Frontispiece of the "naked Jowo" at the Jokhang, Lhasa. A very rare photo the monks try to avoid to be taken, even though they are happy to perform the gilding ceremony sponsored by Westerners.
