Second American edition (originally 1914: Open Court, Chicago & London), first thus with the second text (revised 1928); including the original Preface (dated June 1914) together with the author's Preface to the Second Edition (dated January 1928). Note that the Open Court edition of 1929 is identical in design to the present volume (save for imprint), suggesting that the American rights to the new edition were shared with Norton, to capitalize on the promotion of their two uniform Russell volumes (Philosophy, 1927; & Sceptical Essay, 1928).
