She has conducted workshops nationwide and written reviews and articles for numerous publications. Her second book, Latina and Latino Voices in Literature for Children and Teenagers (Heinemann, 1997), won the 1998 Denali Press Award, given by the American Library Association for works "outstanding in quality and significance."
