After reading Eliot Weinberger's fine and quite thorough introduction is becomes obvious that Clayton Eshleman was quite the player. Eshleman is one of America's foremost poets translator and editor most noted for his translations of Cesar Vallego and has been awarded The National Book Award, The Landon Award and twice the American poets award, and quite a few other awards for translation and poetry.
