Riassunto: This acclaimed naval historian's book tells the complete history of the battleship - the greatest and most awe-inspiring class of ship ever built - from its origins in the 1850s to what the author regards as the end of the era, the sinking of the Japanese battleship Yamato on April 6, 1945.
About the Author: Peter Padfield lives in Woodbridge, Suffolk. He worked with P&O and sailed with Alan Villiers in Maflower II in commemoration of the journey of the Pilgrim Fathers. The Titanic and The Californian won him international recognition as a writer. He is also the author of classic biographies of Hess, Donitz and Himmler and has written widely on the sea, including a work on naval gunnery.
