Riassunto: Examines over 1600 Scriptures from the Old and New Testaments
Many things today are termed "The Battle of Armageddon," but this phrase specially belongs to the Bible and can only properly be used or understood in its Biblical context a context which traces the marshalling of all human institutions, be they social, political, financial or religious, in preparation for the last great battle on earth.
The Battle of Armageddon, written more than a century ago, provides both the Scriptural and historical background of the "controversy" which the Lord has with the nations of earth. It reviews the record of evil and oppression which leads to the indictment and the sentence to "destruction" of all human institutions not in harmony with the establishment of God's kingdom of truth and righteousness.
God permits the Millennial dawn to come upon the world gradually. As people are awakened from the ignorance of the past, they do not consider the Lord or acknowledge his grace in connection with the blessings of the past, present and future. Mankind, in recent history, has had many times as much wealth as was created during the six thousand years preceding. The improved conditions of all people in civilized lands, the shortening of the hours of labor, etc., are offset by greater knowledge and a discontent which comes as a result.
In other words, the increase of knowledge is responsible for the increase of discontent and fear which are bringing Armageddon upon the whole world. How glad we are that man's extremity in this Time of Trouble will be the Lord's opportunity! He is wiching to pour out upon mankind the blessings of the Millennial Kingdom for their uplift out of sin and death sonditions back to the image and likeness of God. He foreknows that they must first have their lessons.
The Battle of Armageddon describes in detail:
· The judgment and destruction of symbolic Babylon.
· The necessity and justice of the Day of Vengeance.
· The assembling of the nations.
· The cries of the reapers.
· Our Lord's great prophecy (Matthew 24).
· The establishment of Christ's Kingdom.
No single Biblical study reveals so much of current interest to the serious student of the Scriptures
About the Author: Known throughout the world at the turn of the century as "Pastor"... Charles Taze Russell was an author, lecturer and minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on February 16, 1852. His authorship of the series, Studies in the Scriptures, included The Divine Plan of the Ages, The Time is At Hand, Thy Kingdom Come, The Battle of Armageddon, The Atonement Between God and Man, The New Creation, plus many others.
His life was totally devoted to teaching the Bible, writing and publishing religious articles, lecturing and proclaiming the message of the blessings which would come to mankind when Christ establishes His Kingdom on earth. He did more than any other man in modern times to establish the faith of the people in the validity of the Holy Scriptures.
His weekly sermons were published by a newspaper syndicate composing some 2000 newspapers with a combined circulation of fifteen million readers. "His writings are said to have greater newspaper circulation every week than those of any living man...." (Editor of the "Continent")
In addition, his missionary tour of Russia, where he delivered lectures to thousands of Orthodox Jews on "the regathering of the Jewish people to Palestine," plus his travels to Japan, China, Korea and India to preach the Good News were widely known. On his return to America he was given a standing ovation at the New York City Hippodrome by thousands of Jews, his discourse on "The Returning Favor to Israel" being published by Hebrew newspapers, both in America and Europe.
Convinced of the harmony of the Bible, Pastor Russell devoted his life to the cause to which he gave his life ... the teaching of the Holy Scriptures. He died while on a lecture tour ... October 31, 1916, leaving no estate whatever. Thus closed the career of a most remarkable Christian.
