Riassunto: Irreverent. Independent. Marginally amusing. "On account of the economy, you have to compromise and acquiesce when it comes to getting a job. You can't be too choosy. But if you make too many compromises, of course it's going to end badly." When the economy goes to hell, Ginger Flanagan, fresh out of grad school, seriously underemployed, and aided by her saucy-with-a?touch-of-vinegar Boston attitude, looks back at her previous jobs and wonders how the chumps she?s worked for in the past have managed to succeed in their careers. Though Ginger lives in the suburbs, she aspires to buy a condo in Boston. This she plans to do once she lands her high-paying dream job in marketing. Supported by a large family and circle of friends, she takes part in all the city has to offer: Red Sox games, ethnic restaurants, steak houses, outlet shopping, Irish bars, hotel bars, dive bars, nightclubs, the ballet, museums, the Swan Boats, and tea at the Ritz. At the beginning of the novel, she meets Patrick, who lives out of state but begins a romance with Ginger. Frustrated by the worst job market of her life, and haunted by memories of her incompetent bosses, Ginger realizes that she needs to take matters into her own hands if she wants the job she?s worked so hard to get.

L'autore: M.J. Hennessy is a native of Quincy, Massachusetts. Bostonette is her first novel.
