mariachis are lost in Albuquerque's Old Town!

Will these magnificent musicians ever find their way to the plaza in time for their big musical debut?  Refreshingly original, brilliantly crafted for education and entertainment, adults and children alike will take pleasure in the clever writing and authentic illustrations in The Lost Mariachis.

Julie Schoen has grown up in New Mexico, soaking up the unique mix of cultures and history since she was little. The Land of Enchantment, as New Mexico is known, is home to the world's largest hot air balloon festival and is the Green Chile capital of the world. One in three families in New Mexico speak Spanish.
Albuquerque's Old Town, the setting for The Lost Mariachis, has existed since 1706. The San Felipe de Neri church, reconstructed in 1793, featured in the book is the oldest in Albuquerque and still holds services every Sunday. At Christmas, the Old Town is illuminated by thousands of luminarias, traditional decorations of sand filled bags lit with candles.
It was Schoen's vision to create a book that highlights this stunning landmark in her hometown, while teaching children the importance of determination and friendship. Enriched with beautiful illustrations, regional Spanish words, and a unique sense of humor, The Lost Mariachis is sure to delight young children and their parents alike as the four determined mariachis are lost and then found.

About the Author: Julie Schoen is an author, yoga instructor, former model, school teacher, and co-founder of the company Little Pearl Publishing, dedicated to bringing the world "little pearls" of wisdom. Over the past six years, Julie Schoen has dedicated her life to pursuing knowledge and sharing it through her writing and teaching. In 2005, she was in a hit-and-run car accident, leaving her with serious injuries to her head and spine. After consulting numerous physical therapists and chiropractors, Schoen turned to yoga and meditation to heal her body and spirit. During the long healing process from this accident, she developed a new gratefulness for life's opportunities and takes advantage of each one that she is given. As an experienced school teacher and yoga instructor, Schoen has traveled the world studying with and absorbing the wisdom of each person she meets. A devoted wife and soon-to-be mom, she is thankful for the opportunity to make a living writing, teaching, and traveling, while still being present for every moment of her life.
