The work, Please God... Where is my mother? began as a struggle to visually understand a deep longing which words could not express. It was completed over three days and nights within the context of a silent retreat. Elizabeth considers the work to be a gift from God, saying;
"The work is a narrative of an incredible journey that could be described as an epiphany. The God whom I had always only known as Father, was able to reveal Herself to me also as Mother and within that there was a powerful theme of birth, new life and acceptance.
I was born in the Spirit as God showed me Herself and the ways in which She wanted to gift me. She welcomed me into a sacred space where we could play together with paint. I came into her presence as a small child, and she welcomed, protected me and taught me just to enjoy being with her.
Finally I feel able to breathe! And what's more, I am learning to take long, deep breaths into this God who knows me better than I will ever know myself."
