Brand New, Unread Copy in Perfect Condition. A+ Customer Service! Summary: This second book of the series on Transport Systems and Traffic Engineering addresses operational, safety, costs, benefits, control and geometrical aspects associated with street design and roadway network planning in urban areas. The design features and planning goals consider urban-sensitive solutions for coping with motorized traffic, pedestrians and public transport passengers. Great emphasis is placed on the critical interactions involved with traffic safety problems. The included papers offer a variety of sample studies and developed projects and provide useful references to academics and traffic engineers. One of the most noteworthy characteristics of this book is that the reported experiences come from different national policies and standard requirements as well as local guidelines. As such it provides a well-structured and consistent book that will be of great interest to those working in this field. Codice inventario libreria

About the Author: Antonio Pratelli has been a professor in the Dipartimento Di Ingegneria Civile at the Universita degli Studi di Pisa, in Pisa, Italy, since 2001. He graduated from the University with a cum laude degree in transportation. Since 1986 Professor Pratelli's research has focused on numerous theoretical problems and applications of the planning and design of transport systems. His work has been published in nearly 70 briefs, of which about twenty were written in collaboration, published in scientific and technical journals, or presented at conferences and congresses of national and international interest. For some time he has been involved with research groups established at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Florence and has worked on various research and studies with Professors Lorenzo Domenichini and Pier Luigi Aminti, Department of Civil Engineering. For years he often worked with Prof. Fabio Schoen, Department of Systems and Computer Science, University of Florence, on projects and research agreements of mutual interest in the study of transport systems and planning. He currently maintains relationships and exchanges with the University of Reggio Calabria, with DISTART University of Bologna, with Dapit University of Basilicata and the University of Brescia. He also exchanges teaching and research with Prof. Reginald Souleyrette of Iowa State University (USA) and has scientific and educational exchanges with the research group led by Prof. Nick Tyler of "Centre for Transportation Studies" headed by University College London. He is a member of the international scientific committee for urban transport of the Wessex Institute of Technology in Southampton (UK). He also served as the scientific director of the research unit of the University of Pisa in the Inter-University Consortium for Transportation and Logistics - NITEL (2007-2009). His main research topics are: intermodal and maritime transport; theoretical and experimental aspects of allocations to transport networks; interactions between transport and land; urban public transport; specific mass and shared transport; mass transport for areas of weak demand; transport demand models; technical aspects of mobility plans; methodologies for bike network planning; toll station analysis model; route deviation transport systems; railway line models; integrated pricing problems; methods and techniques for the design of roundabouts (rotaries).
