Riassunto: "A Voice In the Wind" is a romantic novel dating back to that ill-fated period in history, the American Civil War. Fictional characters are placed into historical events with notable personalities. A variety of diverse individuals encounter one another and weave an intricate web of unforgettable episodes. Everyone in the story is reluctantly caught in the turmoil of that dismal period. The leading figure in this epic tale is a young, passive school teacher from New Hampshire, named David. Like so many others, he is unwittingly pulled into the great struggle between the North and the South. Throughout the story, David keeps a daily journal, at various times shared with the reader. He writes faithfully about his experiences before and after battle. Also, the worthy men and the villainous rogues that have touched his life. He shares his inner most thoughts. David is merely a voice in the wind in this timeless classic.

Dall'autore: I have always been fascinated with the history of early America, especially the Civil War.   For a period of four years an ominous cloud plagued the gathering states and an unwary people to be scarred with untold tragedy and wounds that never healed.   When the great conflict reached a peaceful conclusion, it ended with a violent climax, the assassination of the newly re-elected President, Abraham Lincoln.

Also of great interest during this period was the wild unsettled frontier when Indians roamed freely across the open plains.

Still never to be forgotten was that colorful era of the Old West.   Legendary figures charged upon the scene over the lawless trails and forged notable and notorious men to clash together.   All the leading performers, in the course of time, would take a befitting place in the fabled stories of Western folklore. All these dramatic episodes combined in the birth of a new nation.

In 1981 I traveled across the broad expanse of this country on a bus.   In the passage of travel, I had time to view the varied landscape, to think and to meditate. During those long hours, a tragic love story dating back to the Civil War came to me.   I gave some thought to the basic theme of the story line. However, at that time it seemed to merit more attention.

In the passing years, the fictional story continued to enter my thoughts.   Still, I never wrote one sentence, not even a word.   In no way did I consider myself to be a writer.   My English ain't that good.

Then in 1996, I picked up a pen and began to write a chapter.   I made several trips to the library and delved into books relating to that eventful period in American History.   For many years, I read and re-read about famous battles with renowned personalities, and made numerous notes.   I let the words flow freely from my mind to the pen on to the paper.   Finally, after ten years of writing and reading, the book was complete.

To write this book was a challenging and fulfilling experience.   Now, an equally great experience is to share the work with an interested reader.
