Prima edizione
First edition. With 283 fine reproductions of Klee s works, 137 of which are in full colour and numerous other illustrations within the text. 4to, publisher s original white cloth, lettered in silver on the spine, in the original colour illustrated dustjacket. 344 pp. The book is fine, the jacket very near so but for some minor mellowing only. FIRST EDITION. A beautifully produced restrospect on the major Paul Klee exhibition of 1987. The book is very finely produced by the New York Graphic Society in collaboration with Little, Brown and Company. "PAUL KLEE'S inventiveness, imagination and wit have made him a popular, if not beloved, figure. Of all the 20th-century artists, perhaps only Picasso and Matisse have clearly been more influential. The Klee who emerges from the retrospective at the Museum of Modern Art is a major artist. Although it is dangerous to declare any exhibition definitive, this one feels definitive; it is certainly the best Klee show we are likely to see in this century." -Michael Brenson for the New York Times, February 13th, 1987.
Condizione: Fine. The book is in fine condition.
