Hardcover. Condizione: Very Good. Condizione sovraccoperta: Good. First Editions. Signed by Viscount Alanbrooke. First Editions. 766, 576 pp. Hardbacks with gilt lettering to spine in red and blue jackets, not price clipped. Map endpapers. Jackets' spines are faded with a little chipping (and in the case of 'Triumph', tearing) to edges. Boards are slightly faded but clean. Internally clean. 'Triumph' is signed on the title page by the Viscount Alanbrooke, the Chief of the Imperial General Staff (the professional head of the British Army) during World War II, on whose diaries these books were based. The diaries have become famous mostly because of the frequent remarks on and criticisms of major war leaders Churchill, Eisenhower, George Marshall and Harold Alexander. Although the diaries contain passages expressing admiration of Churchill, they also served as a vent for Brooke's frustration with working with the Prime Minister. 8vo.
