Soft cover. Condizione: Good. 1st Edition. Not dated but circa 1870. Unpaginated, pages not numbered. 18pp. 6 full page illustrations printed by KRONHEIM. Printed on one side only. Bound in original pictorial paper wrappers. The paper binding is a little worn, light handling folds/creases and slightly marked. The pages throughout have light foxing but are generally clean and there is a little off setting as usual. Otherwise a very good copy. Osborne I,84. Mrs Valentine was the general editor of Warne's publishing house and possibly wrote most of the verses for the Aunt Louisa series of books. Size 10.5 x 9 inches (27 x 23 cm).

FIRST EDITION (No. 17 in list of 17 on lower cover), circa 1868, small 4to, 266 x 230 mm, 10½ x 9 inches, pink card covers colour decorated, adverts to lower cover. 6 colour plates printed by Kronheim and Co., 6 pages of story in quatrains, all printed 1 side only. 1 of 4 brave St Bernard dogs meets his death on a rescue mission Christmas eve in the mountains with the monks. Spine expertly repaired, restitched, top corner of upper cover slightly scuffed, margins slightly fingermarked, occasional slight foxing. Contents nice. A very good copy. Osborne I,84. Condizione: Good. Colour plates (6) printed by Kronheim. 265x228mm blue pictorial card wraps (covers rather stained and split at spine but cromplete with some creases & rubbing) 6 pages of text + 6 chromolith pages. Leaves loose though once sewn with very thin thread, now broken, so though paper tanned/foxed with slight edge chips there are no tears. All printed one side only and quite complete. Presentation inscription "Presented to (first name illegible) Sears by Mrs. Danl. B. Lincoln Dec.25 1869". *One of the early Aunt Louisa series with rather pious moral verses but charming Victorian scenes of family gatherings. 1 volume. Softcover.

Circa 1880, dated from adverts, small 4to, 266 x 230 mm, 10½ x 9 inches, pink card covers colour decorated, adverts on lower cover. 4 colour plates and 1 splendid double page colour plate printed by Kronheim and Co., 6 pages of large print verses. Little girl receives gifts from family, welcomes little guests, they dance (centrefold), have a splendid supper and then we see the 'cloaking and shawling' in the hall. Neatly restitched long ago, old internal repair to spine, spine worn on the outside, tiny crease to lower corner of upper cover, margins slightly foxed and slightly fingermarked, 10 mm (½") closed tear to 1 fore-edge with old repair. A good plus copy. Mrs Valentine was the general editor of Warne's publishing house and possibly wrote most of the verses for the Aunt Louisa series of books. Original Sewn Wrappers. Condizione: Very Good binding. One of the ubiquitous Victorian "Aunt Louisa's London Toy Book" series, this with illustrations by Henry Stannard, an artist best known for sporting paintings. In yellow pictorial wrappers with titling in red gray and black and elaborate decorations as well as an image of poor Cock Robin heading to a watery grave. Text printed on the verso of the front wrapper and the recto of the rear, with advertisements on the rear panel. With 16 unnumbered pages, and four full page colored illustrations, as well as a splendid double page illustration at the center fold. There is some soiling, but overall a bright and attractive copy. There is a faintly penned gift inscription at the top of the front panel and just the beginning of separation at the bottom of the covers. Very Good binding.

Printed on one side only.The original wrappers are slightly dusty with a little soiling but does have some of the top margin cut out-see image.There is a little foxing affecting some of the pages-not all, and the stitching for the cover is becoming loose. Otherwise a very nice clean copy.From Nigel Temples collection with his NT monogram in pencil.Aunt Louisa was the pseudonym of Laura Valentine. Size 265 x 230mm (10.5 x 9 inches).
