Prima edizione
First edition. ix, 230pp. Unopened in original publisher's green cloth, stamped in gilt and blind. A trifle rubbed. Ink-stamp of Nottingham Public Libraries to verso of title page, two early manuscript corrections to text. The first edition, printed for private circulation, of the only published work of Elizabeth Haigh Gilstrap (1822-1891), of whom little is known. According to the author's prefatory remarks, much of the contents of this volume was 'written in youthful days'. The title is evidently a reference to one of the few extant biographical details, her birthplace of Colne Bridge House, Huddersfield. A revised and illustrated edition appeared in 1894. OCLC records copies at just five locations (Cambridge, LoC, Waterloo, Wisconsin, and Waseda); COPAC adds one further (Leeds). Size: 8vo.
