First Edition, first printing. Publisher's original violet cloth with gilt titles to spine. With the electric green dust-jacket, unclipped, tiny chip at head of spine which is very slightly toned. Contents super clean with no old owner names or inscriptions. A short, posthumously published novel which takes inspiration from Salome. Firbank was an innovative English novelist. His eight short novels, partly inspired by the London aesthetes of the 1890s, especially Oscar Wilde, consist largely of dialogue, with references to religion, social-climbing, and sexuality. Book.

Covers browned, lightly frayed at the foot of the spine, else a good copy of a fragile booklet. § First separate illustrated edition. 2,000 copies of which Firbank reserved 20 for gifts. The text is a slightly revised version of the 1905 edition (Firbank's first book). Written for Firbank's mother, the book was a favorite of Lady Firbank.
