Cloth. Condizione: Very Good. Condizione sovraccoperta: None. Wallace Goldsmith (illustratore). First Edition. 12mo, green textured cloth with paper label on spine and colored paper paste-down on cover with a colored cartoon of a bald man with pen swirling the stars and planets, illustrated throughout with B&W cartoons by Wallace Goldsmith, decorative endpapers with wallpaper motives of sun, moon, planets and stars, N.P. [~ 100] pages. A humorous compendium of genuine and foolish anticipations for the forthcoming year of 1906. A spoof prepared by the staff of John W. Luce & Co., with illustrations by Wallace Goldsmith. This amusing and satirical "almanak" is filled with puns, advice, drawings, lunar phases, horoscopes, and cartoons. It also has the dubious novelty of seeming to be anti-Theodore Roosevelt. Tight, unmarked copy with publisher's printed bookplate on front pastedown; wear to the head and foot of the spine; slight bowing to the covers; and slight soil and moderate wear to the paper labels on the cover. Overall, an almanac of abiding humorous interest in surprisingly good condition.

Hardcover. Condizione: Very Good. 1st Edition. A satirical almanac produced by the staff of the John W. Luce publishing company. The staff takes a kitchen sink approach: zodiac readings, gardening hints, bios of the rich and famous like Heddy Green and Teddy Roosevelt. Sophisticated illustrations. Cover pastedown on green, rough-weave patterned cloth. Printed at The Plimpton Press. Provenance is the Choate estate in Amesbury MA with a period Home Library book plate for J. T. Choate of Amesbury on the upper left corner of the front pastedown, which has entries for date acquired, volume number and price (75 cents!). The Choate family figures prominently in the history of the towns on the north shore of Boston: many features of the town of Amesbury still bear the Choate name.
