Prima edizione
First edition in publisher's original colour illustrated stiff deep French flap colour painted card wrap covers [soft back]. 4to. 11'' x 8½''. Over a quarter of a century after the opening of the Van Gogh Museum, the original building has been extended with a new wing to a design by leading Japanese architect Kisho Kurokawa. This richly illustrated publication, with photographs by Jannes Linders, accompanied by plans and sections, details both the new extension and the renovation of the main building (designed by Rietveld, Van Dillen and Van Tricht), carried out by Greiner and van Goor. In an accompanying essay, Dutch architectural historian Hans Ibelings traces the history of the architecture of the museum and the new wing. As well as exploring Kurokawa's position in contemporary architecture he provides readers with a lucid introduction to the Japanese architect's design philosophy. Contains 96 printed pages of text with monochrome set of technical drawings and working details and colour photographs throughout. In Fine condition, no dust wrapper as issued. Member of the P.B.F.A.
