Dortu, inheritor of the artist's pictures, and correspondence from Maurice Joyant, Lautrec's close friend and dealer. pp275(1) with numerous colour & other illustrations including photographs of the artist in his studio and with friends, map of Lautrec's Paris, bibliography, catalogue of graphic works, and chronology. Hardback / hard cover: green boards, backstrip title etc and front board artist's monogram in maroon. Front board with two small but sharp indentations, one at fore-edge and the other close to fore-edge, each with accompanying puncture hole of minimal effect on appearance at corresponding positions on dust jacket front panel. Top- & fore-edges of text-block lightly toned. Contents clean and tight. VERY GOOD copy in GOOD lightly rubbed unclipped dust jacket with short near-closed tear at foot of fold between rear panel and flap, a number of minor indentations on rear panel, and puncture holes as mentioned. An attractively illustrated book presenting the life and work of the French artist, Henri Lautrec, includes b&w family photographs, plus many colour plates, some full or double-page, plus b&w drawings, providing a very comprehensive account of the artist and his work, drawing on the hitherto unpublished material from the files of M.G. Dortu, who inherited the artist's work and correspondence. Hardback book, p.276, size: 12" x 10", complete in dustjackket. Both book and dustjacket are in fine condition; a nice copy. Heavy at over 2 kg unpacked weight so overseas customers will be charged shipping at cost (and not the stated ABE shipping rate, which only applies to books up to 1kg in weight).
