Libro Prima edizione
Hardcover. Condizione: Fine. Condizione sovraccoperta: Fine. 1st Edition. New York: Neue Galerie, 2017. A lovely book bound in black cloth boards with gilt stamped letters, decorative gilt-stamped black and gilt endpapers and a fine dustwrapper with color-illustrated photographs of Wiener Werkstatte Jewelry. This publication accompanied the first major museum exhibition devoted to Weiner Werkstatte jewelry. It highlights masterpieces created by Josef Hoffman, Koloman Moser, Carl Otto Czeschka, and Dagobert Pecne, among others. Supplemental materials include design drawings, as well as historic photographs of prominent clients wearing Wiener Werkstatte jewelry. There is a particular emphasis on fashion designer Emile Floge, confidante of Gustave Klimt, who assembled a large collection of Wiener Werkstatte jewelry. The central essay by Neue Galerie assistant curato (and editor)r Janis Staggs examines the founding of Wiener Werkstatte, the development of its working program, the role of key designers and patrons, and the legacy of this unique firm. The book features over 400 illustrations, including designs, objects, and archival material. . A worthwhile contribution to a form of art still coming into its own.

Hardcover. Condizione: Fine. Condizione sovraccoperta: Fine. [118] pp. STAGGS, Janis [edited by] Neue Galerie 11.5" x 9.5" Catalog of the exhibition at the Neue Galerie, New York (March-June 2008). Panorama of the creation of jewelry by the artists of the Viennese Workshops at the beginning of the 20th century. Rich iconography in colors, photographs, sketches. Creations by Josef Hoffmann, Koloman Moser, Dagobert Peche, Carl Otto Czeschka, Eduard Josef Wimmer-Wisgrill. The Wiener Werkstatte, or Vienna Workshops, was founded in 1903. The firm's artistic co-founders, Josef Hoffmann and Koloman Moser, subscribed to the English Arts and Crafts ideal of exceptionally well-made objects designed by artists and executed by specialized craftsmen. Following the example of near contemporaries Rene Lalique and Louis Comfort Tiffany, Hoffmann and Moser shared the belief that jewelry should be valued for its artistic merit and not simply for its monetary value. This opulent publication, written by Janis Staggs, highlights masterpieces created by the Wiener Werkstatte between 1903 and the early twenties. It features significant pieces by Josef Hoffmann, Koloman Moser, Carl Otto Czeschka, and Dagobert Peche, among others. Supplemental materials include relevant periodicals, design drawings, and photographs of prominent clients.
