In the 1920's the author travelled extensively in Eastern Canada and recounts his many adventures and experiences in the book, which has the sub-title "Three Thousand Miles By Train and Canoe through Little Known British Culumbia." Johnston was a great observer of what he saw ,heard and experienced and as well as dealing with the widely varying landscapes and conditions it is the wide-cross section of people he encountered and enjoyed that tells much about the character of the Canadian folk who lived in remote areas and often in the most severe of climatic conditions. 212 pages, 60+ b/w photos, (one plate loose but undamaged) double page map. Orange hard covers with impressed front decoration, gilt spine titles VG, spine lightly sunned, two small tears at top, one at base, small ink name to FFEP, light foxing title page/last text page, text block otherwise VG+.
