El caso del madrileño Juan José Domenchina (1898-1959) es uno de esos enigmáticos vacíos de nuestra historia literaria reciente, porque perteneciendo por edad, aficiones, relaciones y avatares políticos y vitales al grupo de poetas conocido como Generación del 27, a quienes acompañó, más o menos de cerca, en su trayectoria estética y editorial -creación, crítica, antologías, epistolario-, hubo de sufrir un extraño y casi unánime silenciamiento que no han conseguido romper ni las escasas reedicicones parciales de su obra aparecidas en los últimos tiempos, ni los también escasos estudios. Es posible que en tal fenómeno haya diversas causas, intrínsecas y extrínsecas, aún por dilucidar y evaluar. La presente edición de la Obra poética completa de J. J. Domenchina reúne por vez primera los materiales imprscindibles para la justa apreciación del significado de esta poesía en el marco contemporáneo. Desde sus comienzos a la sombra de los tardomodernistas (Juan Ramón Jiménez, Pérez de Ayala, Díez-Canedo), Domenchina exploró los más diversos registros, trazando un sinuoso camino a través de las corrientes estéticas de los años veinte y treinta. El drama de la guerra civil española y sus secuelas concluirían esta búsqueda del poeta, que encuentra en el exilio mexicano, a su pesar, sus formas y tema definitivos. Los dos libros proceden directamente de almacén distribuidor; no obstante, el primer tomo presenta un leve cerco de humedad en parte inferior y superior de cubiertas y páginas finales e iniciales, de escasa importancia, con leve rigidez; el segundo tomo presenta leve doblez en esquina de contracubierta. Nacido en Madrid, en 1898, falleció en México, en 1959, donde había vivido refugiado los dos decenios finales de su existencia. Poeta precoz, crítico insobornable y ocasional novelista, desempeñó varios cargos gubernamentales durante la República, ligando así su destino a la causa republicana. La guerra civil truncó brutalmente su trayectoria: hubo de abandonar España y consumió el resto de sus días añorando su patria perdida. Con las «Tres elegías jubilares» nos hallamos ante el tema del destierro recién surgido, sus emociones brotan más espontáneas y entreveradas. Las heridas están recientes y el sufrimiento a duras penas se recata. Con el tiempo, Domenchina estilizará motivos y formas. Quien busque en lengua española una expresión depurada del destierro debe acudir a Domenchina. Primera edición.
