Decorative Boards. Condizione: Good. First Edition. Undated. Gift message on half-title page dated 1912. Boards are a little worn with a triangular piece of the surface missing from the bottom front corner and some surface discolouration to the rear cover. Corners rubbed and a little frayed. The hinges are quite slack although the binding seems to be reasonably secure. Pages a little browned but otherwise unmarked. Illustrated throughout in black and white. No jacket. Believed to be a first printing.

Soft cover. Condizione: Good. 1st Edition. Not dated but circa 1870. Unpaginated, pages not numbered. 18pp. 6 full page illustrations printed by KRONHEIM. Printed on one side only. Bound in original pictorial paper wrappers. The paper binding is a little worn, light handling folds/creases and slightly marked. The pages throughout have light foxing but are generally clean and there is a little off setting as usual. Otherwise a very good copy. Osborne I,84. Mrs Valentine was the general editor of Warne's publishing house and possibly wrote most of the verses for the Aunt Louisa series of books. Size 10.5 x 9 inches (27 x 23 cm).

Not to be confused with the earlier Warne book (1868) with the same title. 22 of the 24 beautiful chromolithographs are present.The Cock Robin story seems to be lacking the double page coloured plate, I have seen this noted elsewhere, so perhaps it is not just this copy. I cannot see where the illus, would have been. A clean, tight copy in decorated blue cloth. There is edge-wear and the corners are bumped. The head/tail of the spine are worn, with a 1" piece 'semi-detached' at the bottom. A little light foxing here and there. No insc. Unpaginated. 48pp. 24 of text. Size: 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall.

Written by Laura Valentine, under the pen name Aunt Louisa, a Victorian English writer known for her children's literary series. Illustrated by Kronheim and Dalziels. In the original green cloth binding. Externally, worn with bumping and rubbing to the extremities. Some loss to the cloth on the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean with light age toning. Frontispiece and title page have been removed. Fair. book.
