, Olesko, Kathryn Mary. Physics as a calling : discipline and practice in the Königsberg seminar for physics. Ithaca : Cornell University Press, 1991, xviii, 488pp., very good dust-jacket, very good. Cornell history of science series. "It was in the nineteenth century that Germany evolved from a region that only occasionally produced a natural philosopher of the first rank to a nation that dominated the scientific world. To make this possible, talent had to be discovered, nurtured, and trained. It is this process that Dr. Olesko has studied, in microcosm, in this work" (Preface by L. Pearce Williams). 9780801422485 ISBN 0801422485.

(source : Wikipedia) near fine copy, no markings, the dust-jacket is complete and near fine, minor folding tracks on the spine, the bottom part of the D.J. is very lightly torn on less than 0,5 cms, quite nothing, inside is fine, a very nice copy of this masterwork on Helmholtz 1300.
