METEI , Medical Expedition to Easter Island, was Canada's contribution to International Biological Year 1965. This book by one of the party, a paediatrician, traces the project from beginning to end in a somewhat light-hearted vein. 37 members of the party, 230 sailors, and several visiting journalists set off from Halifax on November 15, returning three months later. Purpose of the expedition was to enumerate and study the entire population in order to assess their current conditions and prospects for the future. The island is owned by Chile, two thousand miles east. 166 pp. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Book.
