In 8° (15,5×10 cm); 238, (18) pp. Legatura coeva in piena pergamena molle parlata al dorso. Esemplare leggermente lento. Qualche antica ed interessante nota manoscritta al margine esterno bianco di una decina di pagine. Un leggerissimo alone al frontespizio, praticamente invisibile. Un leggero alone al margine esterno alto da pagina 145 a 160, ininfluente. Tre piccolissimi forellini di tarlo al margine basso bianco dell'opera, assolutamente ininfluenti. Due forellini di tarlo all'ultima carta che ledono alcune lettere senza però inficiare assolutamente la comprensione del testo. A parte questi lievi difetti esemplare nel complesso in buone condizioni di conservazione. Stemma xilografico al frontespizio con monogramma di Cristo (iniziali I.H.S) sormontato da una croce, in basso cuore con tre chiodi nell'ostia radiante, il tutto in cornice figurata. Iniziali ornate. Ex-libris ottocentesco applicato al recto del piatto anteriore "Prosperi Selli, Medicinae et Chirurgiae Doctori". Note manoscritte alla prima carta bianca a carattere medico chiosate da mano ottocentesca e quindi probabilmente attribuibili al chirurgo Prospero Sella che si dedicò anche ad interessi chimici legati all'agricoltura ed in particolare alla produzione del riso. Prima rara edizione di questo importante studio del celebre medico romano, Sallustio Salviani (1514-1572). L'autore fu, come il padre Ippolito nativo di Città di Castello, un celebre medico e filosofo del suo tempo. Autore di vari studi medici fra i quali questo qui presentato è considerato il più innovativo ed importante, tenne a lungo la cattedra di Medicina Teoretica allo "Studium Urbis" . Fu anche nel Collegio dei Medici della Città di Roma. Fu anche medico dell'Ospedale Santa Maria della Pietà e medico personale del Cardinale Ippolito de' Rossi. Persona di ampie conoscenze ed interessi fu attento studioso anche di filosofia e storia tanto che qualche personaggio del suo tempo lo accusò di aver trascurato lo studio della medicina per seguire i suoi interessi storici. Nell'opera qui presentata, l'autore analizza le malattie diagnosticabili in base alla qualità delle urine di un individuo. Opera di particolare importanza per la storia della nefrologia e della urologia. Prima rarissima edizione. Cfr.: IT\ICCU\BVEE\007126.
