Libro Prima edizione Copia autografata
Hardcover. Condizione: As New. Condizione sovraccoperta: As New. 1st Edition. SELLING MAJOR LIBRARY AT EXTREMELY REASONABLE PRICES. THIS BOOK IS SIGNED AND WITH THE ORIGINAL SEAL OF PUBLICATION, RARE/ANTIQUE BOOK, The passage discusses Sir Dominic Colnaghi's well-known Dictionary, which he compiled after thoroughly investigating varied collections of primary documents in the Florentine archives. The political and social life of Florence during the Republic's great days revolved around the Guilds or 'Arti,' and even artists had to adhere to their rules. Colnaghi used enrollments, registrations, lawsuits, and absences from these records, as well as sources like Vasari, Baldinucci, Gaetano Milanesi, and lodoco del Badia, to uncover details about the lives and works of painters, sculptors, goldsmiths, carvers, and illuminators. He organized this information into concise and useful biographies. Sir Dominic's innovative use of first-hand documents, especially for lesser-known artists, contributes to the Dictionary's continued interest among modern scholars. Unfortunately, obtaining the book has been challenging for many years. In homage to Colnaghi's work, the Archivi Colnaghi Firenze now presents the Dictionary, maintaining its habitual and invaluable format for scholars. The presentation includes a useful Index of names and places, along with commentaries by Harold Acton, Mina Gregori, Piero Marchi, and Carlo Malvani. This makes the work accessible to collectors and those who lack access to a copy in their own libraries, with 1,500 entries for artists. Signed by Author(s).
