White is shown in the uniform of Colonel of the Gordon Highlanders. Field Marshal (1903), O.M. (1905) received the Victoria Cross in the Afghan campaign of 1893-98, he defended Ladysmith in 1899-1900 amd was governor of Gibraltar (1900-1904).

Neben anderen namhaften Künstlern seien vor allem Sir Leslie Ward (London 1851 - 1922) und Carlo Pellegrini (Capua 1839 - London 1889) genannt, die unter dem Pseudonym "Spy"(Ward) und "Ape"(Pellegrini) Persönlichkeiten des öffentlichen Lebens karikierten.
