Libro Prima edizione
(Hardcover, 1986 ). 1986 1st edition. 4to (184 x 252mm). Pp111. B/w cartoon illustrations by Len Gurd. Green boards, spine titled in gilt. Good-plus in used dust-wrapper. Humorous fishing tales. Jim Davidson's love of angling was "instilled into him by his father on many countryside holidays on the Norfolk Broads and in Kent when he was young. What may not be known to many of his TV fans is that Jim is widely accepted by anglers, especially carp anglers, as a successful big fish man. He is a member of the Carp Anglers' Association and his best carp, caught from a very 'difficult' club water in Kent weighed 21lb 10ozs. .His angling exploits have been reported widely in the Sun newspaper, Angling Times, Anglers' Mail, and the Carp Catcher magazine. As you will see from this book, Jim has been so keen to get fishing that at times he has worn his fishing clothes on stage and has mixed his bait in his dressing room. Given Jim's love of fishing there is obviously some serious content in his first book, but it wouldn't be a Jim Davidson book without containing much Davidson humour on every page which the reader will not need to be an angler to appreciate. Indeed, the publishers have had to provide some censorship for some of the well known bawdy Davidson humour, or the book might not have been published at all!" .

Libro Prima edizione
Condizione: new. (Hardcover, 1985 ). 1985 1st edition. 8vo (172 x 235mm). Pp302. Colour photographs throughout, bibliography. Blue cloth, spine titled in gilt. Various minor faults. Good copy in tanned, frayed and faded dust-wrapper. An encyclopedia of stillwater flies arranged alphabetically. Each entry has the recipe, a colour photograph and notes on the history, fishing technique and any good variations of the pattern. "The tremendous growth of stillwater trout fishing in the last twenty years had produced a new dimension in fly fishing. Starting from the loch traditions, new methods and techniques have been developed. Both the beginner and the experienced angler now have at their disposal an immense number of flies, most of which have been specially devised to operate in stillwater. The author has brought together in this alphabetical guide most of those flies, and thus provided the angler with an invaluable reference work. Lures, imitative patterns and more traditional flies are all included and an outstanding feature of the book is the placing of the colour photographs of the flies adjacent to their entries. Knowing what the fly looks like will enable the angler to identify more easily those he possesses and to purchase new ones with more confidence and the fly tyer can see at a glance what his finished product should look like." .
